San Diego Monthly Filking is the regular filk circle in San Diego. Filk is the folk music of fandom. We intend to offer a place for anyone who wants to read, sing or listen to complex, funny or strange lyrics on subjects of fannish interest. Common topics include SF, fantasy, or histories and myths, but other topics are also popular. Many filk songs use common, well-known tunes, but there are also many tunes unique to filk (often with multiple sets of lyrics). You can bring your own lyrics, or other people's, rehearsed or not, a capella or accompanied, or just come to enjoy what others bring. While skilled performers are certainly welcome, it is not a performance space. The host has a large collection of filk songbooks, and wireless internet will be available for looking up more. Some beverages and snacks will be available, offerings of more will be gratefully accepted. The location is a ground floor apartment, in University City, near UCSD. Parking is available on the street.
March 2 -- no filk, due to the host being out of town.
